Portland's Mexican Gunfight was formed in 2006 by four old friends and musical brothers in arms who had worked together in various combinations since around 1985. While definitely a rock band, the band's stylistic influences abound: blues grit, country lyricism, the soulfulness of gospel, a rare jam thrown in ... occasionally even tinges of Latin and jazz. Their decades of playing together in notable NW ensembles have honed these musicians' songwriting, chops, harmonies and dynamics into a unified, expressive and powerful whole.
Vocals, Bass / Dave Coey
Guitar, Vocals / Alan Toribio
Piano, Hammond Organ / Mike Walker
Drums, Vocals / Ned Failing
Greetings Everyone!
Well it’s Spring in Portland and that means Sun! No, wait, more rain. No, sun again, yeehaa! Nope, more rain. Achoo!
In show news we’ve got a good one coming… On Saturday, June 1st, we’ll be teaming up with Kerosene Dream Trio for a show at the Showbar at Revolution Hall. This should be a lot of fun! Hope you can join us.
In other news… We’ve actually started work on a new album! YeeHaa!! We’ve spent a little time at Steve Drizos’ Panther studio here in Portland and have almost finished the first four tunes. Now we just have to get busy on the next batch and hopefully we’ll get it done and released before too long.
See you soon!!!
